The Mayor of Tamale, Hon Sule Salifu is leading efforts to engage traders and service providers to reduce the prices of goods and services in the metropolis. His latest engagement was with the leadership of the Tipper Trucks Operators Association in Tamale to discuss modalities to reduce the prices of their services (seasand, aggregate, digging Stones and “Tamaleyley” to reflect the recent fuel price reduction which he described as significant. He expressed worry about the reluctance with which business people respond to the obvious need for a price reduction as against their approach to necessary conditions for price increases for their goods and services, thereby shortchanging the consuming public. The association in response lamented the situation claiming that it doesn’t lie in their powers to cause any price review. According to them their mother association, GPRTU is the institution clothed with the authority to do so. They suggested that the Mayor should consider engaging leadership of the Tamale chapter of the GPRTU of TUC on the subject matter. The Mayor expressed grateful for their show of commitment in reducing the price the goods and services in the market. He assured them of an open-door administration and promised to engage them at regular intervals on any matter affecting their operation as well as the general public. By Hamdawei, Aide to the Mayor.
