The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency in Eastern region, Thomas Ampem Nyarko has issued out a total of Gh200,000 cheque to support one hundred and fifty (150) students who have gained admission to various tertiary institutions as well as some continuing students struggling to pay their fees. The Member of Parliament speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over cheques to the students said, they were drawn from all 34 electoral areas in the constituency. He called on authorities at various universities to ensure they do not overcharge the approved fees to lessen the burden of the Ghanaian students. He further called on government to have a keen look into funding of tertiary institutions. Some of the beneficiaries of the scheme, who were appreciative of the support also spoke to the media.
