Tamale 6th June, GNA, The Minister of Interior, Mr. Henry Quartey has renewed the curfew hours for Chereponi township and its environs in the North East region from 10:00pm to 4:00 am. In a statement signed by the Minister said, “The for Interior, has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfew hours for Chereponi Township and its environs in the North East Region from 10:00pm to 4:00 am effective, Wednesday, June 4, 2024”. He urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges. Mr. Henry charged the residents to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area. “Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the afore-mentioned communities and environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecute”. He added. Late last month, conflict erupted between the Nalori and the Ando communities in the Chereponi District on Sunday afternoon over a piece of farmland, which both communities claim ownership.
