Management of Real Tamale United (RTU) has filed an official protest at the review committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against the conduct of a match official over what they describe as “unprofessional conduct”. Referee Akudzi Martins was in charge of the game at the Akoon park when RTU lost 3-2 away to Medeama SC in match day 2 of the betpawa premier league at Tarkwa last Sunday. According to club statement issued on Monday September 19, 2022 and signed by director of communication Alhaji Mohammed Baako Alhassan, “Referee Martins blatantly ignored a foul on the 88th minute on RTU defender in a process that resulted into a goal to hand medeama a win”. We tend to believe that, the inability of the media to secure and produce highlight of the match on our screens as they are currently doing for all other Centers in match day 2 of the GPL, was a plan well-orchestrated to rob the pride of the North a win at Tarkwa”. The statement further adds.
Management of RTU is however urging the FA’s review committee to review the full details of match and apply the necessary sanctions to avert the dangers these development poses to the game. Management is therefore appealing to fans of the club to remain calm as they engage the rest of the clubs in the betpawa GPL and hope for fair officiating in all other matches. The loss means the Tamale-based side is now 12th on the league table with just a point after two games. RTU will play host to legon cities fc in week 3 of the betpawa Ghana premier league at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday. Source: Thenorthernweb.com/Rafiq Abdulai
